Methods

  1. Use your knowledge to construct a joke.

  2. Expect people to know the same thing as you do.

  3. If your friends don’t know what you are talking, hint them with some information.

  4. You can mix words to form a new word, and that is called a word play or a play on words.

  5. You can mix your name with something or someone’s name. Fit your name into the word as best as you can. If not, put your name next to the word with a hyphen. Ex: If I (Lenny) were Superman, I would be called Super-Lenny, or Super-Len for short. If I were Thor, I would be called Thor-Len(ny).

  6. Pretend to ask questions and say the answers.

  7. You can do the knock-knock jokes. Ex: Knock, knock. Who’s there? Ach. Ach who? Bless you!

  8. Think of opposites.

  9. Use different definitions of words or idioms to say something ironic.

  10. Use your jokes wisely and be nice.

  11. There is a chart from a book called Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants that can create funny names. Click here to view the chart.

  12. Have fun, and you can use my examples of jokes in the Examples of Jokes menu above to inspire you!
